Annie Lennox, The Tourists, London, 1979 ©
This shot of Annie is when she was in a band called the Tourists a few years before the Eurythmics. I met her very early on when she lived in Crouch End and rehearsed below a record shop called Spanish Moon. The Tourist’s played a lot around London in the early days of Punk. She was always fun to watch and musically very talented. After the Tourists split in 1980, Annie and Dave Stewart bought a church in Camden and turned it into a recording studio where they birthed the Eurythmics. I have met Dave a few times over the years out in LA. He is always genuine and friendly. Some time ago I ran into him at a party in Bel Air, and we ended up in a jacuzzi drinking and laughing about how the hell we ended up in an LA Jacuzzi… all the way from Camden Town.
